Climate Data Intern

Duration : 3 month internship, remote or London-based

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

This is an exciting time to join Urgentem!

Our award-winning product Element6, a climate-risk platform which provides a holistic vantage point of company emissions with an array of forward-looking analytics and data for risk management purposes. The new technology platform enables Urgentem’s clients to clearly understand their portfolio emissions and climate risks, meet regulatory and fiduciary reporting requirements and navigate the transition to a sustainable economy.

 

Our Climate Solution mandates are also rapidly growing, as we consult clients on low carbon investment strategies (e.g. using concepts like avoided emissions) or climate risk stress testing frameworks.

 

In just a few months we have enjoyed client wins including Central Banks, Pension Funds, Global Asset Managers and Hedge Funds. We work with major players in the Finance industry to enable a transition to a low-carbon future, by advising on climate risk management and opportunity generation.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Analysing corporates publicly released source materials such as sustainability and annual reports

  • Accurately recording the data in our internal application

  • Reporting problems with the data to Senior Data Analysts

  • Keeping sensitive customer or company information confidential

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or equivalent in a sustainability-related field 

  • Experience in analysing source material 

  • Experience in non-standardised public reporting 

  • Knowledge of climate-related data and standards

 

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Attention to detail - Climate Data interns have to make sure they are vigilant in their analysis and be able to see through the data to spot errors and outliers. Wrong data can mean financial losses to our clients and big damage to our reputation as well.

  • Time management - Climate Data interns have to analyse vast amounts of material whilst maintaining high levels of attention to detail, speed and a well organised and executed workflow is vital.

  • Collaborative (teamwork) - working together towards a common goal, creating a positive working atmosphere, and supporting each other is key to our success.

Urgentem’s main office is Located in London, UK. As a company that promotes flexible working, we are open to candidates from all corners of the world, however, candidates from other time zones will be required to be available for some crossover with GMT working hours.
