We recently launched a climate-risk platform which provides a holistic vantage point of company emissions with an array of analytics and data for risk management purposes. The new technology platform enables Urgentem’s clients to clearly understand their portfolio emissions and climate risks, meet regulatory and fiduciary reporting requirements and navigate the transition to a sustainable economy.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyse and organise GHG emissions data as collected by the Data Collection team.

  • Review and update Urgentem’s inference data methodology on an annual basis. 

  • Manage the team responsible for developing climate risk analytics and research related to Urgentem’s climate analytics and advisory business.

  • Review methodology and update analytics around climate scenario analysis and portfolio alignment.

  • Review methodology and develop analytics around PCAF implementation and carbon foot-printing for different asset classes.

  • Review methodology and update analytics around SBTi temperature metric models.

  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in climate science and sustainable finance and incorporate them into Urgentem’s products and services.

  • Develop Urgentem’s product offering related to forward looking analytics for climate risk and opportunities.

 

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Previous experience as a lead or senior climate scientist or climate risk analyst.

  • In-depth understanding of climate scenario models like IPCC, IEA & NGFS models.

  • Strong understanding of climate transition metrics like carbon foot-printing, portfolio temperature scores (SBTi framework) etc.

  • Strong understanding of mathematical frameworks and understanding of statistical concepts. Experience in modelling and string understanding of quantitative concepts.

  • Efficiency in working with large data sets – experience in programming languages like R, python and working with databases preferred.

  • Understanding of financial concepts and prior experience in financial services preferred.

  • Fluency in English and teamwork skills

  • An analytical mind, great attention to detail

  • Keen problem solver with a logical mindset

Urgentem’s main office is Located in London, UK. We are open to candidates from all corners of the world. Candidates from other time zones will need to be available for crossover with GMT working hours.
